CHAIRMAN’S
MESSAGE—RON ALLRED
First,
let me recognize Dan Beatty and crew for the great job they did at
Colorado Springs last September! I am starting to find out how much
they did on our behalf. Thanks, Dan and crew.
It’s
official. The Jackson Hole (JH) reunion will be at the Snow King
Resort (SKR) in Jackson, Wyoming on 22-25 June 2011. Circle your
calendar and start saving your nickels and dimes. Rooms will be $155
for single/double occupancy including surcharge, tax and a free
breakfast buffet for each guest for each night you stay. Free shuttle
service to/from JH airport is also provided. The SKR will also
provide a free two-hour wine and cheese reception Wednesday evening.
I signed a contract with the SKR on the 24th
of Dec. reserving 125 rooms. Check
out the Resort’s website (above) for a view of the resort and
some of the JH sights. SKR will hold the block of rooms until 45 days
prior to our reunion. You can register by using the above
address/number. Be sure to identify yourself as a USAFHPA member to
get the reduced rate. SKR will require a credit card deposit for the
first and last day of your stay; cancellation outside of seven days
prior to your arrival incurs no penalty.
There are many
exciting tours and shows to see in and around JH. I’m still
working on the details, but they will probably include
1. an
evening BBQ on top of Snow King Mountain via
the ski chair lift catered
by the SKR;
2. a dinner show by the Bar “J”
Wranglers;
3. a float trip (no white water) on the Snake River
with sack lunch inside the Grand Teton National Park;
4. a guided
bus tour into Grand Teton National Park and/or Yellowstone National
Park;
and a great hospitality room
facility at the SKR for visiting friends and tossing down a cool one.
For a grand finale, we plan to have a Saturday evening
banquet dinner with Dick Cheney as our “invited” guest
speaker. After finding out who we are and how many heroes we have in
our ranks, Vice President Cheney communicated to me through his
secretary, Lucy Tutwiler: “I’d really like to talk to
those guys;” however, he would rather not give us a firm
commitment this far out. Lucy told me to get back to her in June of
2010.
So, that’s the deal on Dick Cheney. Personally, I think he will
sign on.
Finally, I’m looking for someone to organize
the golfing event. I can give that person some possibilities and
phone numbers. Send me a note if you can help.

SECRETARY’S
COMMENTS---BOB BRUBAKER
Larry
Burke served as secretary with the San Antonio reunion crew, and is
now helping as my assistant. He's accomplishing great works
immediately, giving me my initial check-out on this job (kinda
reminds me of my H-13 dollar ride at Gary AFB)!
We’ve
been notified of the last flights of the following members and/or
family since our September Reunion:
Owen
Clark, Joe Kelly, Dianna Bowers (Jim Carroll’s daughter)
Our
thoughts and prayers and sincere condolences go out to their
families.
